A neighbourhood cafe, run like it matters.

Banksia opened in 2019, in an old print shop with good bones and better light. Not much has changed since, on purpose.

Sophie's place.

Sophie Nguyen grew up two streets away and spent ten years in kitchens across the city before opening her own. The rule she brought home: buy less, buy better, waste nothing.

She still works the pass most mornings. If the hotcakes are especially good, that is why.

The room.

Recycled timber tables, flowers from the grower at the Saturday markets, and the morning sun doing most of the decorating. Prams, laptops and dogs on the footpath all welcome.

The produce

Fruit and vegetables arrive from two family growers just out of town. The menu bends to what they have, not the other way around.

The roast

Our blend is roasted in small batches by a local roaster. We change the single origin monthly and will happily talk you through it.

The neighbourhood

We sponsor the under-nines at the local footy club and host the street's book club on the first Tuesday of the month.
